Public bug reported:

Hi

I tried resolving this issue in post:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1986556

but was unsuccessful.

My post also refers to the other post:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1986593

Also, after a bit of Googling I see several people experience this
issue.

About 2 years ago when I purchaed my previous VAIO laptop I tried
installing a previous version [8-10; can't quite remmeber asa few years
ago] of Ubuntu and had the same problem and as I see it's not been
resolved 2 years later I thought I'd take the time to log it.

I view this as a critical bug as it forces me to revert to using Win7 as
I'm not going to sit using my laptop for 8 hrs/day listening to a cpu
fan overruning. I also note that Ubuntu is not as responsive as I'd
expect for an i5 processor.

Clearly, when I upgrade this laptop I'm going to have to consider using
a non-Sony laptop or Dell or spend some time doing research into laptops
supported/recommended by Ubuntu or use a desktop instead.

The laptop spec is:

Sony VAIO
VPCEC3SOE
Intel i5-460m/2.53GHz
ATI mobility radeon HD 5470

Thanks

Graham
