That's exactly what I found BearT. It seems that the symptoms are the
same but the error message is either different or has been removed in
later kernel versions.

I also tried kernel 3.2.14 and had the same problem again, it wouldn't
fully wake from suspend. The only error message I found was 'Composite
sync not supported' like you I found no 'invalid framebuffer id' errors
anywhere, yet the problem is identical.

I also have the same problem when I switch from using monitors to using
the laptop screen, sometimes it works, other times it seems to get lost
between the two and I have no screen on either and have to restart.

It really is driving me up the wall; since updating to 12.04 I have a
very unreliable machine that randomly needs restarting and coupled with
the regular compiz/unity crashes is making me despair of Ubuntu.
