Public bug reported: gksu gedit /etc/default/timidity
Changes: SERVER_USER=user SERVER_GROUP=user gksu gedit /etc/init.d/timidity Change (the line is, in fact, wrong): chown ${SERVER_USER} /var/run/timidity sudo reboot and Unity goes crazy. Slow, erratic... I googled an I found this: http://askubuntu.com/questions/125527/ubuntu-wont-boot-after-12-04 -upgrade-timidity-error Is not my case (12.04 32 bit frech install and updated), but it can be related. I wanted to run the service as user in ordre to start/stop TiMidity++ and use other MIDI sequenzer.
