First, you seem to be hit by several different, completely independent bugs,
We are in the worst-case scenario of your printer absorbing all print job data without printing anything, not leaving any hints in the error_log nor on a bad printout. Can you check which packages of CUPS and cups-filters you have actually installed? Simply run the following command in a terminal window: dpkg -l | grep cups Please post the output of the command here. If you have applied -proposed correctly, you should have the following versions: cups 1.5.3-0ubuntu1 cups-filters 1.0.18-0ubuntu0.1 If your versions are older, please check everything and update your system again. Can you print now? For CUPS there is a further fix available, on my PPA. To try it, follow the instructions on https://launchpad.net/~till-kamppeter/+archive/ppa section "Adding this PPA to your system" and update your system. You should get CUPS version 1.5.3-0ubuntu2~ppa1. Also follow the instructions of the sections "CUPS error_log" and "Capturing print job data" on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems for the following four scenarios (tell also what comes out of the printer): - Brother HL-2035 on USB - Brother HL-2035 connected via network - Samsung CLP 300N on USB - Samsung CLP 300N connected via network Please do not package the output data together and do not compress the files. Attach the files one by one. ** Changed in: cups (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1006307 Title: Can't print To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1006307/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
