unbelievable... 264 comments and counting and this is set to "won't
fix"?!

I changed from Ubuntu to Fedora 16 because of this with the latter
running stable. All were pristine installs.

This bug's thread is a "hodge podge" of different scenario's precisely
because it happens IN a multitude of scenario's. Affected users can have
the problem while watching video's, while working with GIMP, while
browsing CPU / GPU intensive websites and so on. If anything, the bugs
title and description should be updated instead of dismissing this.

I can reproduce it 100% within 3 minutes by:
Clean install on my MSI EX600
Either update or don't the nVidia drivers (doesn't make a difference)
Open www.eurogamer.net (quite resource heavy that one)
Open a digital foundry face-off article (just because it's a combination of
flash, of images, video and a whole lot of comments)
Scroll up and down the article.
Crash within a minute!

The crash is instant, no log files get updated afaik.

The crash may be preceded by one or more screen "flashes" - as if the
display is updating. This is milliseconds long, but clearly noticeable.

One of the flashes eventually freezes the complete system, with a hard
reset the only solution.

Happens on nVidia, ATI, Intel etc. But clearly has somethign to do with
the display, the LCD image updating. Quite where - I don't know.

This bug is blocking for those involved. Critical for Canonical. As
mentioned - I am getting used to Fedora now - one of many answers to
this problem.

Please update priority and status. Thanks!

** Summary changed:

- ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently while watching videos (Fixed by
3.3.6 kernel)
+ ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
