Public bug reported: (I tried to file this bug over the zramswap-enabler, but apport won't let me choose it as the package. Is this correct? I can't remember if this is a package from ubuntu's repositories.)
Today (a few minutes ago) I confirmed to the update-manager the installation of some software updates on ubuntu 12.04. The installation couldn't finish because when dpkg was about to unpack/configure zramswap-enabler, it simply stalled. I killed the dpkg process and later I then asked it to configure the remaining packages. It reported an error on zramswap-enabler (as expected because of the interruption). After that, I cleared the apt cache and asked apt-get to reinstall zramswap-enabler, when then I faced the exact problem. I look now at the processes list on gnome-system-monitor and see that both the apt-get and dpkg processes are sleeping, with no open files and no memory map (stangely), and on the console I get this output: (pt-br) Preparando para substituir zramswap-enabler 0.2.1-0~21~precise1 (usando .../zramswap-enabler_0.2.1-0~21~precise1_all.deb) ... (en) Preparing to replace zramswap-enabler 0.2.1-0~21~precise1 (using .../zramswap-enabler_0.2.1-0~21~precise1_all.deb) ... And nothing more happens. I don't know where in the process of installing this happened. Maybe the pre-script is holding dpkg back or something like this... But I don't have much knowledge in this area to guess more securely. I'm filing this bug now because I'm not sure if this error may cause something bad to happen that prevents me to boot ubuntu (maybe I'm exaggerating, but I can't know). ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: dpkg i386 precise zramswap-enabler -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1009860 Title: Installing/updating to zramswap-enabler 0.2.1-0~21~precise1 freezes dpkg To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1009860/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
