Public bug reported: Reading the changelog of the current gcc-4.7 package, it does not appear obvious that a fix for <URL:http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=53239> is in the current Ubuntu package. This bug causes potential compiler problems in all languages, but with a focus on typical C++ usage patterns. It was one of the items getting a last-minute fix in the one-week delay of the last Fedora release.
I have only read the ChangeLog but don't have Quantal installed, so I can't say whether this bug is present or not. The ChangeLog does not list it as fixed compared to the origin 4.7.0 release, but it may just be inaccurate. Someone (TM) should take the attachment from comment #6 of the upstream bug report and test whether the output with -O2 is correct. If it isn't, it would make sense getting the fix into the Ubuntu-specific patch of gcc-4.7.0. The bug will not be present in gcc-4.7.1 once that is released. ** Affects: gcc-4.7 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1010517 Title: Upstream bug 53239 possibly unfixed?
