Oh. One thing that *is* different in MATE is that I can't open a 2nd window of Iagno as I could in the past in Gnome 2. If I launch Iagno from the window manager or commandline and there is already one instance of the program launched, it exits immediately. This obviously leaves an empty loading window for a little while in MATE.
This does work in Unity which makes me wonder if the overall brokenness might be related to some change in Iagno itself.
