May be me not understanding the problem, but with a fresh install of
12.04, I still can't install ssmtp even though it is the fixed
2.64-5build1:


[tristan@cabecou ~] sudo apt-get install ssmtp
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree       
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

 ssmtp : Depends: libgnutls-openssl27 but it is not going to be installed
