I'm migrating here from bug 1014744, I'll recap that one briefly.

The affected system is very similar (Lenovo SL510), so potentially the
same innards, just a bigger frame to accomodate the 15-inch screen.

The behavior I see was originally reported as a failing Mute button, but
upon closer inspection it's exactly as described by Jeff; mute works if
a volume button is pressed after pressing mute (mute works like a
"modifier" key).

The microphone mute button remains completely unresponsive, however.

I've confirmed this behavior on Oneiric (kernel 3.0.0-12.20), Precise
(kernel 3.2) and latest mainline kernel (3.5-rc3 at the moment).

Since I tested mainline kernel I'll set this back to Confirmed.

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
       Status: Incomplete => Confirmed
