Thanks Joseph for your prompt answer. It is not as good as I thought first: the kernel does not freeze anymore. but 2 of 3 times, the module doesn't initialize properly with 3.5.0-030500rc3-generic. There are some dmesg (full log attached): --- [ 12.595661] cx88[0]/2: cx2388x based DVB/ATSC card [ 12.595663] cx8802_alloc_frontends() allocating 1 frontend(s) [ 12.734055] i2c i2c-5: sendbytes: NAK bailout. [ 12.735502] cx22702_readreg: error (reg == 0x1f, ret == -5) [ 12.738140] cx88[0]/2: dvb_register failed (err = -22) [ 12.739456] cx88[0]/2: cx8802 probe failed, err = -22 [ 12.899327] wm8775 5-001b: chip found @ 0x36 (cx88[0]) ---
The modules itself does not work anymore (in other words: watching tv doesn't work). So there is a different bug but the problem is not solved. is that kernel-fixed-upstream or kernel-bug-exists-upstream now? ** Attachment added: "dmesg when booting with upstream kernel 3.5.0-030500rc3-generic" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1016731/+attachment/3201119/+files/dmesg_3.5.0-030500rc3-generic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1016731 Title: cx88xx freezes kernel when using SMP To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1016731/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
