Sorry for the delay, this bug should have been triaged to ifupdown
instead of netbase...

Anyway, there's sadly no way for ifupdown to know to kill dhclient AFTER
you changed the entry in /etc/network/interfaces.

However, running /etc/init.d/networking stop, then changing it, then
doing /etc/init.d/networking start should work (or else, it's an actual
bug).
