Then I'll open one, but basically, yes: Unity can, and does, put things on other workspaces under certain circumstances, and to make matters worse, I'm not sure those circumstances are uncommon. The one I'm most intimately familiar with right now: laptop that I use in a dual-screen configuration at work, but a single-screen configuration at home. I place Empathy and its chat windows on the external monitor's screen at work (to the right, physically). At home, when I launch Empathy, nothing shows up anywhere - because the Empathy window has been automatically placed on the *workspace* to the right. (Note: I never use workspaces proper, and this is not a problem that occurs when I lower the number of available workspaces to 1.) > "Hum, so it's working with unity 5.10, do you downgrade compiz as well? I can keep current Compiz and downgrade unity to 5.10, and that does work as the other poster says.
