As a further test of comment #3, when I type CTRL+ALT+F1, I get TTY. There, I login with admin user account.
Then I type "sudo gdm start" and get the following messages: ** (gdm-binary:1910): WARNING **: Failed to acquire org.gnome.DisplayManager ** (gdm-binary:1910): WARNING **: Could not acquire name; bailing out As this point, I logout and hold the main power button to shutdown the machine. Upon reboot, an automatic recovery process occurs. Hope this helps clarify the problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/972708 Title: User login screen does not appear during boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/972708/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
