Your CUPS error_log contains X [06/Jul/2012:14:05:05 +0300] No valid Listen or Port lines were found in the configuration file.
This means that your CUPS configuration file /etc/cups/cupsd.conf is broken and this prevents CUPS from starting after the update. To get CUPS going again, move the broken config file away and let the default version get reinstalled: sudo mv /etc/cups/cupsd.conf ~ apt-get download cups sudo dpkg -i --force-confmiss cups_*.deb Note that you have to redo all manual changes in cupsd.conf then (check the original file ~/cupsd.conf). Print queue definitions are not in cupsd.conf and therefore stay conserved. If you use some program for changing your CUPS configuration and if it breaks again after using the program again, report a bug in that program. Reopen this bug if the problem reappears after restoring the default configuration as explained above. ** Changed in: cups (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1021679 Title: package cups 1.5.3-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1021679/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
