** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: nautilus

After entering the correct information in "Places > Connect to
Server..." and clicking "Connect", there is no notification of what
  "Connect to Server" is doing.

This appears in Dapper (6.06.1), Edgy (6.10), Feisty (7.04) and Gusty
  (7.10) [2007-06-13] - 4.10, 5.04 and 5.10 not tested.

  * If I enter in a domain that is incorrect or times-out, nothing appears as a
dialogue - an icon does - sometimes - appear on the desktop
  * If I have conflicting .ssh/known_hosts keys, no dialogue appears to tell me
that there is a problem.

Both of these problems have the correct error output when using "ssh
[EMAIL PROTECTED]"; Most users aren't aware of how to use the terminal and
therefore can't figure out what is wrong with their connection.

  How to repeat:
  1) Enter in an incorrect domain, user, port for ssh in 'Connect to Server',
then click 'Connect' - nothing appears as the cause of the problem BUT an icon
appears on the desktop - not helpful
  2) Connect to a second computer using ssh (on the command-line or otherwise).
Disconnect and then write new rsa/dsa keys and then connect again. If you use
"Connect to Server..." which reads the file .ssh/known_hosts, "Connect to
Server..." will not tell you that there are conflicting keys in that file.
"Connect to Server..." should offer a solution by deleting that entry in the
file, or deleting the file altogether. At a minimum, a dialogue should appear
to make the user aware there is a problem.

I have even had a problem on my recently upgrade Feisty (7.04) machine
that when I try "Connect to Server", nothing appears in dialogue format
(of course), but also no icon appears on the desktop. "killall nautilus"
doesn't fix the problem, but a reboot does. This is when I am greeted
with multiple versions of a shortcut to my server that I entered. (ie:
"server", "server (1)", "server (2)", etc.)

I'm not sure what files are involved in this bug, but I am willing and
still able to post any files that you request.

Lastly, I would love to post a video if someone can tell me what program
  can record your desktop...

  ------------------

It keeps happening to me and on separate computers - the icon never
shows up when I create a new "Connect to Server..." This will happen on
a fresh install of Ubuntu 6.06, 6.10 and 7.04 periodically.

Experiment with adding and unmounting the same servers and different
servers repeatedly using the SSH protocol.

I'll try to get my head around recording my desktop and post a video...

  ------------------

This is now it's favourite error:

  Nautilus cannot display "ssh://[EMAIL PROTECTED]:port/".

Please select another viewer and try again.
