Can you elaborate on what you mean by "forcibly reboot after syncing"?
I removed the asound.state file, ran 'kill $(lsof -t /dev/dsp*
/dev/audio* /dev/mixer* /dev/snd/*) && sudo modprobe -r $(lsmod|awk
'/^snd/ {print $1}') && sudo modprobe snd-emu10k1', and I still see no
'PCM' slider in alsamixer.
