Public bug reported:

gnome-settings-daemon is not sending out any error messages on my
computer. However, when I try to switch focus to a new window, the
screen freezes. Sometimes, I can get it to respond by right clicking a
menu. Otherwise, I have to reboot. Two days ago, this probem was
fixed. It has now come back to haunt me.

I am using Precise (Ubuntu 12.04).
