For non-developers, a separately packaged adb would also be of interest.
Since UMS mount is not supported for many ICS devices, and mtp has
troubles of its own, adb often is the best way to copy files between
device and computer.

I am successfully using a standalone adb downloaded from
http://code.google.com/p/texasice-cream-sandwich-
mirror/downloads/detail?name=adb_fastboot.zip&can=2&q= so

Googling for adbfs also turns up several hits. I hope something like
that will eventually make its way into Ubuntu.
