i am having the same exact problem as daniel tedesco.. ever since i installed ubuntu a month ago, immediately, this started happening.. i read online, that it's a problem with nvidia.. and it same to rename an xorg file, which i did, but still having the problem. seems to happen when i login for the first time after the computer has been asleep .. i have a thinkpad t410
