Thanks, this is something we do want to support. One thing we need to consider is that the original container or base rootfs cannot be deleted or the cloned container will disappear. This requires some special new checks in lxc-destroy.
Overlayfs does have some bugs which are not being resolved quickly. (At least /proc/$pid/maps being corrupted, there may be more). Ephemeral containers are deemed more 'experimental' than 'real' containers, so it may be worth waiting to support overlayfs in lxc-clone, which produces "real" containers, until those are resolved. I will mark this Triaged and wishlist priority. ** Changed in: lxc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist ** Changed in: lxc (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1029777 Title: Use overlayfs in lxc-clone To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1029777/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
