This is almost but not quite an enhancement request.

I'm tripping over bugs in Empathy that I don't encounter with Pidgin.
I'd like Pidgin to be the default chat client, at least until I can get
those bugs resolved.  Currently control panel doesn't offer a way to
make that switch.
