Public bug reported: When adding some files to my iPod they don't show up in the Artists/Albums menus. In order to locate and play the files, I have to search for them using the Search menu item.
The common factor is that all of the items seem to be podcasts. Two which have been exhibited this behaviour are: The Reduced Shakespeare Company Podcast http://www.reducedshakespeare.com/category/podcasts/ and The Infinite Monkey Cage podcast http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/timc Being podcasts, I wondered if they might be getting filed under the Podcasts menu, but having checked I can confirm that they are not. I found several forum posts saying that having the Compilations menu enabled is a common cause of "missing" tracks. I checked and do not have this menu enabled. I have tried adding files using both Banshee and gtkpod. When using banshee, the test file was added correctly to the Podcasts menu. Therefore this seems to be a bug with gtkpod and/or its interactions with libgpod. I have tried adding a file with iTunes and this works perfectly.
