I did this :

sudo apt-get install build-essential linux-headers-$(uname -r)
wget ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/driver/alsa-driver-1.0.14.tar.bz2
tar -xjf alsa-driver-1.0.14.tar.bz2
cd alsa-driver-1.0.14
./configure
sudo make
sudo make install

Now I should have the current drivers. Which I think I already had.

Rebooted and ...nothing ..went to alsamixer there are only 4 sound
controls. Master, PMC, Caller I and Off hook. MAster and PMC were at
100% the other two were muted. unmuted them both.

Still no sound. Does this look right? Its the alsamixer details.
