Public bug reported: After I upgraded from Ubuntu 11.04 to 12.04, I can't connect to a wireless network. I see the wireless network, and when I try to connect, I get the authentication window up, and write in the key, but it never connects.
My laptop is an Asus U31JG. The wireless network worked in 11.04 (a bit slow, and sometimes disconnected, but it worked). Here is my output from the WirelessTroubleshootingProcerure: description: Wireless interface product: RTL8191SEvA Wireless LAN Controller vendor: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. physical id: 0 bus info: pci@0000:03:00.0 logical name: wlan0 version: 10 serial: 1c:4b:d6:ed:b9:80 width: 32 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list ethernet physical wireless configuration: broadcast=yes driver=rtl8192se driverversion=3.2.0-26-generic-pae firmware=N/A latency=0 link=no multicast=yes wireless=IEEE 802.11bgn resources: irq:17 ioport:b000(size=256) memory:d4c00000-d4c03fff *-network description: Ethernet interface product: RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller vendor: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. physical id: 0 bus info: pci@0000:04:00.0 logical name: eth0 version: 06 serial: bc:ae:c5:25:76:bb size: 100Mbit/s capacity: 1Gbit/s width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress msix vpd bus_master cap_list ethernet physical tp mii 10bt 10bt-fd 100bt 100bt-fd 1000bt 1000bt-fd autonegotiation configuration: autonegotiation=on broadcast=yes driver=r8169 driverversion=2.3LK-NAPI duplex=full firmware=rtl_nic/rtl8168e-2.fw ip=192.168.0.100 latency=0 link=yes multicast=yes port=MII speed=100Mbit/s resources: irq:45 ioport:a000(size=256) memory:d3804000-d3804fff memory:d3800000-d3803fff 0: hci0: Bluetooth Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no 1: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no lo Interface doesn't support scanning. wlan0 Scan completed : Cell 01 - Address: 00:15:E9:64:19:CC Channel:6 Frequency:2.437 GHz (Channel 6) Quality=68/70 Signal level=-42 dBm Encryption key:on ESSID:"Lund" Bit Rates:1 Mb/s; 2 Mb/s; 5.5 Mb/s; 11 Mb/s; 6 Mb/s 12 Mb/s; 24 Mb/s; 36 Mb/s Bit Rates:9 Mb/s; 18 Mb/s; 48 Mb/s; 54 Mb/s Mode:Master Extra:tsf=0000000d325b6181 Extra: Last beacon: 340ms ago IE: Unknown: 00044C756E64 IE: Unknown: 010882848B960C183048 IE: Unknown: 030106 IE: Unknown: DD0600032F010001 IE: Unknown: 2A0100 IE: Unknown: 32041224606C IE: Unknown: DD0900037F010100170000 IE: Unknown: DD0C00037F020101000002A34000 IE: Unknown: DD180050F2020101000003A4000027A4000042435E0062322F00 eth0 Interface doesn't support scanning. auto lo iface lo inet loopback DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=12.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=precise DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 12.04 LTS" 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation Core Processor DRAM Controller [8086:0044] (rev 18) 00:01.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation Core Processor PCI Express x16 Root Port [8086:0045] (rev 18) 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0046] (rev 18) 00:16.0 Communication controller [0780]: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset HECI Controller [8086:3b64] (rev 06) 00:1a.0 USB controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset USB2 Enhanced Host Controller [8086:3b3c] (rev 06) 00:1b.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Definition Audio [8086:3b56] (rev 06) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset PCI Express Root Port 1 [8086:3b42] (rev 06) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset PCI Express Root Port 2 [8086:3b44] (rev 06) 00:1c.5 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset PCI Express Root Port 6 [8086:3b4c] (rev 06) 00:1d.0 USB controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset USB2 Enhanced Host Controller [8086:3b34] (rev 06) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge [8086:2448] (rev a6) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge [0601]: Intel Corporation Mobile 5 Series Chipset LPC Interface Controller [8086:3b09] (rev 06) 00:1f.2 SATA controller [0106]: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset 4 port SATA AHCI Controller [8086:3b29] (rev 06) 00:1f.6 Signal processing controller [1180]: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Thermal Subsystem [8086:3b32] (rev 06) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GF108 [GeForce GT 415M] [10de:0dee] (rev a1) 03:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.
