It's not gksudo but "pkexec" (PolicyKit) and it should have given
a short explanation of why root rights are requested.

This can legitimately happen if the dropbox binaries failed to be
downloaded during the initial installation. Installing the binary
system-wide for all users (in /var/lib/dropbox) requires root access.

Do you have something in /var/lib/dropbox/.dropbox-dist now ?

If not, you might want to run "dropbox start -i" in a terminal and
paste here the output.
