** Description changed: When creating an ad-hoc wireless network from the "create new wireless network" network-manage applet, it appears to work and shows as being connected as well as showing in the connections page but no device i have tested can see the network. I have tested with an Android phone that has connected to an ad-hoc created by Windows and with a Windows PC. Neither can see the network. ------------------------------------- Description: Ubuntu 11.10 Release: 11.10 network-manager: Installed: 0.9.1.90-0ubuntu5 Candidate: 0.9.1.90-0ubuntu5 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: network-manager 0.9.1.90-0ubuntu5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-13.22-generic 3.0.6 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-13-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 CRDA: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory Date: Sun Nov 13 02:24:37 2011 Gconf: IfupdownConfig: auto lo iface lo inet loopback InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot" - Release amd64 (20111012) IpRoute: default via 192.168.1.1 dev eth0 proto static 10.42.43.0/24 dev wlan0 proto kernel scope link src 10.42.43.1 metric 2 169.254.0.0/16 dev eth0 scope link metric 1000 192.168.1.0/24 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.1.118 metric 1 Keyfiles: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory NetworkManager.state: [main] NetworkingEnabled=true WirelessEnabled=true WWANEnabled=true WimaxEnabled=true RfKill: 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no SourcePackage: network-manager UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) + --- + AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.24. + ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu5 + Architecture: amd64 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USER PID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC1: luke 1871 F.... pulseaudio + /dev/snd/controlC0: luke 1871 F.... pulseaudio + Card0.Amixer.info: + Card hw:0 'NVidia'/'HDA NVidia at 0xfe024000 irq 22' + Mixer name : 'Realtek ALC883' + Components : 'HDA:10ec0883,10438249,00100002' + Controls : 36 + Simple ctrls : 20 + Card1.Amixer.info: + Card hw:1 'NVidia_1'/'HDA NVidia at 0xfcffc000 irq 16' + Mixer name : 'Nvidia GPU 1c HDMI/DP' + Components : 'HDA:10de001c,1acc5213,00100100' + Controls : 12 + Simple ctrls : 2 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=fbc9cc00-c119-4a4a-a24f-e3c594add1de + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Release amd64 (20120425) + MachineType: System manufacturer System Product Name + Package: linux (not installed) + ProcEnviron: + LANGUAGE=en_GB:en + TERM=xterm + PATH=(custom, no user) + LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + ProcFB: 0 nouveaufb + ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-23-generic root=UUID=36a38d7d-9dd5-4da9-aeab-1aa2dd70e6bf ro quiet splash + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-23.36-generic 3.2.14 + RelatedPackageVersions: + linux-restricted-modules-3.2.0-23-generic N/A + linux-backports-modules-3.2.0-23-generic N/A + linux-firmware 1.79 + RfKill: + 0: phy0: Wireless LAN + Soft blocked: no + Hard blocked: no + SourcePackage: linux + Tags: precise precise + Uname: Linux 3.2.0-23-generic x86_64 + UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) + UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo + dmi.bios.date: 11/18/2009 + dmi.bios.vendor: Phoenix Technologies, LTD + dmi.bios.version: ASUS P5N-E SLI ACPI BIOS Revision 1406 + dmi.board.name: P5N-E SLI + dmi.board.vendor: ASUSTeK Computer INC. + dmi.board.version: 1.XX + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: 123456789000 + dmi.chassis.type: 3 + dmi.chassis.vendor: Chassis Manufacture + dmi.chassis.version: Chassis Version + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnPhoenixTechnologies,LTD:bvrASUSP5N-ESLIACPIBIOSRevision1406:bd11/18/2009:svnSystemmanufacturer:pnSystemProductName:pvrSystemVersion:rvnASUSTeKComputerINC.:rnP5N-ESLI:rvr1.XX:cvnChassisManufacture:ct3:cvrChassisVersion: + dmi.product.name: System Product Name + dmi.product.version: System Version + dmi.sys.vendor: System manufacturer ** Attachment added: "AcpiTables.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/889690/+attachment/3257786/+files/AcpiTables.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/889690 Title: 10ec:8185 Ad-hoc network appears to be created but isn't -- Realtek RTL-8185 rtl8180 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/889690/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
