Let me clarify the problem: Whenever there's a problem with Unity Dash or Launcher or Task switcher in the past I would use unity --replace.
After upgrading to Precise, whenever I do this the top bar disappears, the launcher as well, parts of the open windows remain visible and the mouse pointer continues to respond. I can even click on whatever is visible. In the past everything would be back in place (Launcher, top bar) after a few seconds. Now it doesn't come back. I cannot even press the power button to shutdown the pc. Alt-F2, Alt-F1 do absolutely nothing. I'm left with a hard shutdown the only option. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1036205 Title: Unity --replace gets stuck To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1036205/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
