I also experience this and since (at least on my system) I have to format at least the root partition (otherwise the installer won't continue and display a warning) I can't install 7.04 at all. I tested this on an old athlon 1000 (has no problems with other linux distros at all) with both ubuntu and kubuntu. Please tell me what I can do to give more details.
