**UPDATE:
All the glitches and screen update issues are gone now after creating, in 12.04
it's by default not there, an xorg.conf (in /etc/X11/xorg.conf) file with the
following:

Section "Device"
        Identifier "intel"
        Driver "intel"
        Option "AccelMethod" "uxa"
EndSection

(the hint is stated in xorg-edgers' ppa here https://launchpad.net
/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa)

**IMPORTANT:
- The issue has exacerbated though with Firefox and all its related windows and
dialogues; that all text is not displayed at all in the tabs or other
dialogues as the attached screen shows.
- Google Chrome works properly though with no problems.

** Attachment added: "Screen of Firefox with Xorg-edgers using UXA as an
acceleration method"
