Public bug reported: The package system on my install is not working at all. I'm unable to download applications from the software center, via tarballs, or via terminal package install. Haven't tried synaptic, as I'm unable to download it to use it... Obviously, I've tried sudo apt-get -f install and the dpkg configure command, neither to any avail. This has been going on for nearly a month, and it is due to two broken packages 'empathy-common' and 'gnome-sudoku' both of which originally failed to update after a fresh install of ubuntu 12.04. Since then, I've been completely unable to use the package system. I have no 3rd party repo's enabled or anything of the sort.
