I have not forgotten about this. At work (router: Netgear WG602 v3) I am reliable able to connect, using up-to-date Precise kernel ( Linux 3.2.0-29-generic-pae #46-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jul 27 17:25:43 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux )
However if I disable wireless, then enable it I get the follow trace (below) and can not connect again until the next reboot.
