Hi, I am also experiencing this bug on a friends computer. I have tried
the "break=top"-solution and also the piix-module solution - neither of
these two worked. I should also state that I didn't see any activity in
the floppy drive that was connected to the computer. Since it is my
friends computer I can not give a more indepth description right now.

Knoppix boots up fine (kernel 2.6.19 I think).

I am thinking of trying to install Dapper and try upgrading through
internet efterwards. Maybe something that could work. I've also seen
someone fix the problem by swapping cables to the SATA harddrive(s) -
it's not very scientific but it's worth a try.
