I'm glad to hear you found a solution that works for you. For completeness, and for anyone else with the same hardware who finds this bug, the patch I described in comment #2 will not end up in Ubuntu 12.04. I've just checked a few things and support for AMD's "Trinity" APU's was only introduced in the 3.4 kernel. Ubuntu 12.04 is using a kernel based on the 3.2 kernel.
