This admittedly minor annoyance still exists in quantal. The fix is trivial.
Can we please get line 37 in grub2-1.99/grub-core/term/gfxterm.c changed from #define DEFAULT_BORDER_WIDTH 10 to #define DEFAULT_BORDER_WIDTH 0 That's it. Please?
