Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-notifier

Just updated to the latest gutsy and got a notification update:

Refresh Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA) configuration presets

New Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA) configuration presets have
been added. Please execute the asoundconf(1) set-default-card macro in
a Terminal now to refresh your user's configuration presets.

This is a useless notification as following it's instructions I get:

$ asoundconf set-default-card
You have omitted a necessary parameter.
Please see the output from `asoundconf list`, and use one of
those sound card(s) as the parameter.

Are we really expecting joe-average user to know which one of his
soundcards he really wants to be default? Beyond that, is it really
acceptable to ask joe-average user to open a shell and enter command
lines?

It sounds like what is needed here is a gui helper that the user can
trial and error through sound cards to see which one he wants default.

Cheers.
