Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Thunderbird 15, whenever I select a dozen or so
messages in a folder with a lot of messages, the CPU usage spikes and TB
becomes unresponsive for a few seconds, after which it comes back to
life and CPU usage goes back to normal. I can reproduce it reliably.
