Public bug reported: I'm running an Asus P5B-E, C2D E6420 processor, nVidia 7600 GS video card with the proprietary drivers. Anytime I play videos using mplayer, VLC, xine, kaffeine, totem, etc etc... the playback is choppy intermittently and if I move or resize the window the CPU usage of Xorg goes to 100%. This was a fresh install of Feisty on this machine. I'm running the 2.6.20-15 and 2.6.20-16 generic kernels, the problem is the same under both. I've tried just leaving the player alone and not even moving the mouse and the problem is still there.
In the past I was using Dapper and Edgy on much "lesser" machines (Athlon 2200, etc) and never had problems like this before. I think this is a pretty serious bug here. There are others talking about it on ubuntuforums.org, see http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=484680 for one example. Any help would be appreciated. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Choppy Video Playback in Feisty 100% CPU usage Xorg https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/122753 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
