Thanks, David. Those certainly should be logged, and are tagged with the VIR_ERR_SYSTEM_ERROR code. I should think that would be emitted at all times, but just to be sure, do you still have a system with an out of date certificate where you could try setting log_level=1 in /etc/libvirt/libvirtd.log, restarting libvirt (sudo stop libvirt-bin; sudo start libvirt-bin;) and look for an error message in /var/log/libvirt/libvirtd.log?
