Hey, thanks for your feedback. @Joseph(comment #6): I have not yet had the chance to test the latest upstream kernel.
@Joseph(comment #7): This issue started happening only very recently - a few days ago. My kern.log mentions this error message already on "Sep 14 14:29:45" with the same kernel as above ("3.2.0-30-generic", see also attachment "kernel-bug-jpeg-3"). So most likely, the kernel version before that was still working properly. At the moment, I have troubles reproducing this problem reliably. The same images that caused the system crash earlier, do not necessarily cause a crash after system reboot. It is still there, though (see attached file "kernel-bug-jpeg-2"). @Matthias(comment #9): I agree with the problem you describe in comment #9. In fact this is also a problem I have on my laptop. It is different from my above bug report in that it is always reproducible with particular jpeg images - and that only the X server crashes and one can login directly again (as you said). ** Attachment added: "kernel-bug-jpeg-2" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1051534/+attachment/3323208/+files/kernel-bug-jpeg-2 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1051534 Title: System crash after opening jpeg image (with eog or firefox) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1051534/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
