Here is a workaround for the problem, taking the problem at a lower level (and suitable for business environment):
1) install autofs ('sudo apt-get install autofs') 2) also install any tools needed to access your network resources (for example) cifs-utils 3) configure autofs (see for example http://www.lamolabs.org/blog/6000/one-liner-mounting-a-smbcifs-share-as-an-automount-on-centosfedorarhel/ ) Then your resource is managed at a low level (kernel / daemon) and the apps don't need to be aware of it. This will solve the problem for Thunderbird as well as for any other app that is currently unaware of GIO (for example Freemind, GanttProject, ...) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/105088 Title: Thunderbird does not honor gnome-vfs paths To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/thunderbird/+bug/105088/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
