I can confirm that the fix in ubuntu 12.04 does not fix the connection problems of a Samsung B2710 mobile phone. The phone is recognized by the kernel but does not show up as a usable device (the device file will not be created). (USB mass storage mode) After setting "DisableSwitching=1" in /etc/usb_modeswitch.conf device is working as expected.
