The way they works is very different: the kubuntu panel as the old unity
launcher was using the mouse pointer position, now we use the Xorg
Xfixes' pointer barrier feature that probably is not supported by these
virtual machines drivers.

So I think the issue should be fixed at xorg level, more than in unity.
