I have 12.04 (Xubuntu) and have cups (1.5.3-0ubuntu4). Rebooted a few times as well. My Canon MP500 and 98% of the time it hangs halfway through the last page. Printer becomes unresponsive and needs to be power cycled.
Looks like this bug is still there.
