I have this problem. I use a Xubuntu 12.04, after a update the system sometimes boot normally, sometimes stops in blackscreen. I'll execute the command and fill the bug. The packages that were update when the bug start were some related to linux kernel. I'dont know exactly, but some like linux-headers and linux-image. I updated the system yesterday, after that the problem start.
