Public bug reported:

On a fresh Kubuntu 12.04.1 installation I ran

sudo apt-get install ibus-mozc

After rebooting the computer Japanese input is enabled however when you
type in Hiragana there is no candidate box displayed with all the
possible Kanji combinations. Hitting space still cycles through them but
without the visual candiate box this is unusable for Japanese users.
