Sorry I don't know if it is lightdm or nautilus or something else that
handles this.

Leave computer for a while until screen blanks
Come back

Would expect login screen to be presented

Screen is black and no login box appears although cursor does change to text 
entry when over where the box would be.
Clicking where box would be and entering password blind just gives a black 
screen and default cursor everywhere.

Don't think this is reliably reproduceable.
