Sorry, I never got the mail from launchpad, so I didn't know you'd requested info, and unfortunately I don't have access to the machine I was using then. I'm pretty sure it had dbus, but probably not hal and other related services, and definitely no automount.
I just tried it on a different machine (running pangolin) and the SD card test worked, and a lot of the other problems were gone too. The biggest problems I had this time around was it wanting to test hardware I don't have (firewire, CF reader, an MMC card in the SD slot) and the "did a notification come up?"
