Public bug reported:

While most desktop users start gnome-session through lightdm login,
lightdm does not pass DISPLAY DPI setting in /etc/X11/xorg.conf to the
started gnome-session. I can see relative keywords in
/var/log/Xorg.0.log indicating DPI setting is adopted by Xserver, and
I see big font size in the unity-greeter interface indicating larger
DPI setting in xorg.conf take effects. However inside the desktop, DPI
is reset to default (96,96) with no reason. Further I use xrandr to set
DPI to a larger value but see no effect. Using xpdyinfo shows DPI is
still (96,96).

So does gnome just abandoned the display dpi feature in the application
level? or is it mandatory to set dpi always to (96,96) by gnome?
