I ran into this problem recently on 12.04, something to do with
libc6:386 installed. This is what I did:

sudo dpkg --purge libc6:i386 cupswrappermfc7860dw:i386 libgcc1:i386
sudo dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/libc6_2.15-0ubuntu10.2_amd64.deb
sudo apt-get install -f
